Stage 1 → Step 5

TARIFF SETTING FOR DESLUDGING SERVICES

Desludging of toilet pits has to be directly charged to beneficiaries/households. The registering/licensing authorities must notify applicable tariffs. Rates should be finalized in consultation with existing service providers, ensuring they are practical, market-aligned, and affordable.

Tariff Setting Principles

Direct Charges

Charges apply directly to households/commercial establishments. Subsidy mechanisms may be included to motivate desludging.

Stakeholder Consultation

Tariffs are finalized in consultation with existing service providers to ensure rates are practical and market-aligned.

Distance-Based Pricing

Rates are fixed for a single trip up to 10 km from the point of collection to the designated treatment plant. Additional per-km charges apply beyond 10 km.

Category-Based Rates

Separate rates for Non-BPL households, BPL households (subsidized), and commercial establishments.

Sample Tariff Structure

The following table formats show the typical structure for tariff notification. Actual values should be determined based on state-specific guidelines and local market conditions.

Non-BPL Households

Vehicle Capacity Fixed/Emptying Charges Transport (per km beyond 10 km)
≤ 3000 Litres [As per state notification] [As per state notification]
3001 - 4000 Litres [As per state notification] [As per state notification]

4001 - 5000 Litres [Commercial rate] [As per state notification]
